Recap: Thursday - The Next Frontier

Today at AI House, the conversation turned to the future.

How does AI transform existing structures in the business landscape, create new ecosystems, and alter business dynamics? How can startups, corporations, academics and investors push innovation and drive progress? What comes next?

Those were just some of the big questions of the day.

As the sun rose over Davos, AI House opened its doors for our “Frontier Tech Breakfast,” where our panelists separated the hype from the reality in terms of how AI can help humans live longer and healthier lives.

During a session on connecting people, places and things with AI, panelists explored how emerging technologies are woven into the fabric of our daily lives, acting not merely as tools but as intuitive partners enhancing our interactions with the world around us. The panel included Alex Kipman, founder of G42-backed Analog, a new AI venture just announced at AI House.

Shortly after, our attention shifted to science, with a conversation on how AI can contribute to solving the world’s biggest challenges featuring scientists from HPE, the European Commission and ETH Zurich.

In the following panel, we looked into the challenges and opportunities presented at the intersection of space and AI. AI House proudly welcomed our first astronaut speaker: Matthias Maurer of the European Space Agency

Top investors in the world of AI gathered for our investor lunch, with representatives from top firms such as Blackrock’s Wei Li and Lightspeed’s Moritz Baier-Lentz.

The afternoon began with an introduction to the Swiss AI Initiative, where attendees were given the opportunity to explore the challenges and opportunities in AI development and spark a dialogue on how collaborative efforts can shape the future of responsible technology development. Andreas Krause, Academic director ETHZ AI Center, and Sabine Süsstrunk, President Swiss Science Council and Professor at EPFL, were among the speakers.

How will AI reshape the tech landscape as we know it? Will it create a generation of new unicorns and push existing tech giants to the side? We were joined by an all-star panel to discuss the future of tech in the age of AI, including Leigh Marie Braswell of Kleiner Perkins and Luna Schmid of Google Ventures.

Establishing trust in AI means being transparent. But what does that mean in practice? Our speakers from Impact AI, EPFL and Thales discussed how to cultivate open-source AI and how to ensure clarity on data used in model training, copyright issues, and bias concerns.

The EU AI Act, the first major piece of global legislation on AI, has been one of the biggest topics in AI lately. In “European Sovereignty & Public Institutions in the AI Era,” our panelists dove into these crucial conversations surrounding accountability, fairness, and competitiveness.

Christian Lindner, the federal finance minister of Germany, was in conversation with Jonas Adrulis, the founder and CEO of Aleph Alpha. The panel was moderated by Jochen Wegner, Editor in Chief of Zeit Online.

Our last main stage panel of the day explored the boundless possibilities of humans and AI harmoniously amplifying each other's strengths.

Finally, it was time to celebrate at the AI House Night party, with visuals courtesy of Ferdi Alıcı, Director and Founder of OUCHHH and music by DJ Samantha Michelle.
